Menu del Dia vs Pilgrim’s Menu

Menu del Día (Menu of the Day) is a traditional Spanish lunch (usually served from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM) popular with locals and tourists. It includes 3 courses (first course, second course, dessert, or coffee), bread, and wine/water.

Menu del Peregrino (Pilgrim’s Menu) is special offer created exclusively for tired and budget-conscious pilgrims. Served both at lunch and in the evening (often as early as 6:30–7:00 PM, adapting to the pilgrims’ schedule). It is the best for those looking for a quick, filling, and inexpensive calorie fix. It includes the same three courses, a bottle of house wine, and bread.

For me, Menu del Dia was usually more interesting, seasonal, and high-quality. In good restaurants, the Menu del Dia can cost from €15 to €25–30, and it’s a full, high-quality gastronomic meal. Pilgrim’s menu was usually €15.
