I did not use bag delivery services and proudly carried my backpack all the way. What can I say? My knees and legs filed for immediate divorce numerous times. Next time I am definitely using bag delivery services.
It is perfectly organised along the way – you simply leave your backpack or luggage at your accommodation with a label, and find it waiting for you at your next albergue. Magic.
Since I didn’t use any of these services personally, I cannot recommend one in particular – but my research shows the top 3 on the Camino Frances are:
1. Jacotrans — one of the longest-running and most recognised services on the Camino. You see their vans along the Camino Frances and their labels in almost every reception area in hotels and albergues. Communication works best via WhatsApp.
2. Correos Paq Mochila — the Spanish postal service turned pilgrim helper. Known for their slick web-based booking system and fast English-language email responses. Available from Roncesvalles onwards.
3. Caminofácil — luggage transfer and taxi service combined. A flexible option if you need both bag delivery and occasional transport along the route.
Starting from St Jean Pied de Port? The first stage to Roncesvalles is served by Express Bourricot.
