Before you hit the trail, make sure you have these downloaded and ready:
- Maps.Me — my go-to offline maps app. Download Spain before you leave home and navigate without signal, data or roaming charges. Note: some features now require a subscription.
- “A Pilgrim’s Guide to the Camino Francés” by John Brierley — the Camino bible. Stage by stage breakdown, maps, albergue listings and everything you need to know about the route. I cannot count how many times I saw it on the Camino.
- AlertCops — the official Spanish police safety app. Report incidents, request assistance and share your location in an emergency. Free, and hopefully you’ll never need it.
