Fully Charged and Ready to Roll

What a difference a day makes! The next morning, all the grumpy grey clouds were completely gone, and the Spanish sun was back in all its glory. I started my day with my body energized, my soul blossoming, and-most importantly- with the batteries of both my mind and my phone fully charged to 100%!
I had about 27 beautiful kilometers ahead of me to reach my final destination of Ages, and the trail was full of fresh energy and new faces.

Despite a few climbs and descents along the way, the path felt quite easy and deeply enjoyable. When the weather is this perfect, your feet just seem to float above the gravel. Along the way, in the quiet village of Barrios de Colina, I made a stop to admire the lovely Iglesia de San Juan Bautista and took the opportunity to have a mini-photoshoot in the cool, refreshing shade of the tree branches.

Looking at the emerald green grass and how the light shadow the lines of the branches on it made me smile. It was a beautiful reminder that no matter how grumpy or monotonous yesterday felt, the sun always comes back. In life, just like on the trail, rainy days and highway hums are always temporary. If you just keep walking, you will eventually step right back into the sunshine.

The path then guided me through the tiny town of Arlanzon, which has just a few quiet streets. It’s a peaceful spot where you can pause, stretch your legs, or grab a quick snack if you need to keep your energy up for the final stretch.
The Best Burger and a Cheesecake to Die For
My final destination for today was Ages. Much like Arlanzon, it’s a miniature wonderland made up of basically just two or three streets. But don’t let its size fool you-this tiny village hides an absolute treasure.

For food, my Camino friends and I went to a local hidden gem called La Rustica Caravan Bar. I was honestly blown away by how beautiful and stylish it was! You might expect a rustic, old-school dark tavern in a village like this, but instead, you step into this incredibly cool, hip outdoor space with a beautifully decorated vintage caravan/food truck vibe.
It is run by an absolutely wonderful local family, and while their burgers are fantastic, their homemade Basque cheesecake is an absolute masterpiece. It is honestly to die for! Do not even think about skipping it.
The Beautifully Tiny World of Ages

After that unforgettable meal and a visit to the local village church, we spent the rest of the afternoon doing what pilgrims do best: chilling under the warm sun, laughing, and talking about everything and absolutely nothing at all.
But the funniest part of staying in a town this size is the complete lack of privacy! Earlier in the day, I ran into a guy I knew from the trail. We stopped, had a nice chat, said our goodbyes, and parted ways. But because Ages is literally the size of a post stamp, we ended up bumping into each other at least three more times before the sun went down! By the third time, it felt like a total running joke. “Oh, you again? Fancy meeting you on this specific corner of the only street in town!”
It’s hilarious how the Camino successfully shrinks the entire world down to the size of a tiny village. Back home, we live in crowded cities where we can remain invisible for months. But here, the universe keeps throwing the same people into your path, making you smile, connect, and realize that we are all sharing the exact same beautiful journey.

As night fell, I headed back to my bed, put my legs up on the wall to drain the fatigue, and closed my eyes-feeling brand new and ready for whatever tomorrow has in store. We dream big because next stop is Burgos – the entry gate to the legendary Meseta
