Flight, train, bus — a seemingly endless journey to the beginning of the greatest adventure of your life.

My adventure started in Toulouse – I took a direct flight from Cyprus and then a train to Bayonne, which is only 52 km from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
Bayonne is a gorgeous French Basque city that deserves more than just a train connection. If you have a few hours, wander the old town, grab a croissant (you’re still in France – make the most of it!), and visit the stunning Gothic Cathédrale Sainte-Marie, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Camino landmark in its own right. Bayonne sits at the crossroads of two Camino routes – you’ll already feel the pilgrim energy in the air.

After a short stopover in Bayonne, I headed back to the train station to catch the train to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port – only to find out it was replaced by a bus that day. Completely normal, no extra charge, and honestly – the views from the bus window were just as stunning.
However you get here – the sky (in most cases) is quite literally the limit.
